RULES: SOUTHEASTERN OPEN
1. Mileage divisions - 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 (270-369= 300 etc.). 300-500=
2-day race, 600-800= 3-day race, or until all prizes are won. Release time
is 30 minutes after sunup.
2. Trophy awarded for each State and/or Mileage Division winner with a
minimum of 5 participants and to the overall winner.
3. For entries postmarked April 1 or earlier, a minimum of $45 dollars for 5
birds or less per participant with each bird over 5 at $6 per bird (no
limit). For entries postmarked after April 1 a minimum of $50 for 5 birds or
less per participant with each bird over 5 at $8 per bird (no limit). All
pre-entry fees should be sent to the Dixie Combine Race Coordinator Bob
Lynch. No refunds if the race goes to the release point as the drivers have
already been paid.
4. Each club is responsible for the survey for its participating members. A
copy of each participants GPS measurement must be on file or sent to the
Dixie Combine Race Coordinator Bob Lynch prior to the race.
5. Three weeks before the race, April 1, each club race secretary should
contact Bob Lynch (229-382-0019) to give an estimate of the number of birds
that they expect to ship, reserve room for their birds on the Combine
trailer, and arrange for a place and time for loading their birds. The Dixie
Combine has two trailers (1000 and 1500 bird capacity). The smaller trailer
will begin at Albany, GA and proceed north on I-75 in route to the race
station. The larger trailer will start in Fitzgerald, GA and travel westward
to Marianna, FL, Pensacola, Mobile, Gulfport, and Hammond, LA before
proceeding north on I-55 to the race station.
6. If entry fees are not paid in advance, all fees must be paid in full to
the driver before any birds are loaded on the Combine trailer. A copy of
each participants entry form with countermarks/ electronic band numbers also
must be received by the driver before birds are loaded.
7. At least 5 members having separate loft locations and addresses must be
present at banding, clock setting, clock knock-off, and clock opening, and
must sign the results that will be forwarded to the Dixie Combine to verify
it's accuracy. Any accidental release of a bird(s) during loading will
result in disqualification of all birds in that crate if they can be
identified, or all birds in that club if the birds in a particular crate
cannot be identified. (BE CAREFUL LOADING)
8. Each club race secretary will calculate the speeds for their members. A
copy of each participants entry form listing the participants complete name
and address, all birds shipped, color and sex of each bird,
countermark/electronic band numbers, clock start time, clock stop time,
clock variation, uncorrected arrival time, corrected arrival time, distance,
and speed of each clocked bird will be sent to the Dixie Combine Race
Secretary, Bob Lynch, with a postmark no later than 3 days after the close
of the race. Official times for sunset on the day of release and sunrise and
sunset for the following day is needed must be included with the race
results. Race results with postmarks later than 3 days after the close of
the race will be disqualified. All data will then be entered in the Combine
computer for recalculation and verification.
9. Timeout for darkness will be 30 minutes after official sunset until 30
minutes before official sunrise the next morning. Birds clocked during
timeout for darkness will be given a clock time of 30 minutes before sunrise
on the following morning.
10. A Race Release Committee consisting of one representative from each
participating state will determine release based on a simple majority. The
Dixie Combine Race Secretary will vote to determine the release in case of a
tie.
11. A copy of the final overall results and winners by state and mileage
division will be mailed to each participant. Please send complete mailing
addresses for all participants.
12. Failure to follow any of the above rules will result in
disqualification. Any discrepancy will be reviewed by the Race Committee
whose decision will be final.
*Please use your own entry form or electronic printout and mail all results
to Bob Lynch, Race Secretary, Dixie Combine.
